The advantages of adjustable sunshades for optimal energy efficiency

At Tellier Brise Soleil, we specialise in architectural solar shading solutions that improve building energy efficiency and thermal comfort. To this end, we have developed numerous ranges designed to control daylight and solar heat gains, thus offering several significant benefits for both occupants and owners.

Adjustable Sunshades to Control Solar Radiation and Heat Gain

Unlike fixed louvers, adjustable sunshades allow for precise control of the amount of light entering buildings by simply adjusting the angle of the louvers. In this way, they address two aspects : visual comfort and thermal comfort.

Improving user comfort by prioritizing natural light

tellierbrisesoleil_realisation_gammeazur_fondationabbepierre_paris75__087213800_1321_19042017The ability to orient the sunshade louvers allows you not only to control the daylight levels of your space but also to create lighting environments suited to your activity by prioritizing natural light. Depending on the angle, you can create an area conducive to work and concentration (for an open space, for example) or lighting that promotes relaxation (rest area, living room, etc.).

By precisely controlling the amount of light that enters the interior, adjustable sunshades reduce electricity consumption for lighting. By maximizing the use of natural light, they reduce the need for artificial lighting during the day, resulting in substantial energy savings and reduced long-term operating costs.

Energy savings on heating and air conditioning

By controlling daylight, you inevitably manage heat modulation. Today, in all construction or renovation projects, there is talk of the heat gain from the sun's rays. For good reason, adjustable sunshades allow light to pass through or, conversely, protect against it.

By adjusting the angle of the louvers, it is possible to effectively block direct solar rays during the hottest periods of the day, thus limiting the overheating of interior spaces and the use of air conditioning. On the contrary, during the winter period, it is recommended to use solar heat gain to contribute to passive winter heating, reducing heating bills.

This heat modulation contributes to maintaining optimal thermal comfort conditions while reducing dependence on heating and/or air conditioning systems. A solution that is both cost-effective and environmentally responsible !

Weather-Responsive Automated Sunshades

tellierbrisesoleil_realisation_gammeazur_mairie_cerville54__006061800_1321_19042017At a time when home automation is being integrated into our homes, it is also frequently found in building construction and renovation projects. Furthermore, it is perfectly possible to equip your architectural solar protection with light and/or temperature sensors to automatically adjust the angle and orientation of the louvers in real time.

To illustrate: it's summer, the outside temperature is around 27°C and it's cloudy when sunshine suddenly breaks through the clouds. The brightness from this sudden sunshine becomes difficult to bear and you feel the temperature rising rapidly. With an automated system, the louvers can close automatically to prevent the overheating of interior spaces, and then reopen once conditions improve. This adaptability ensures constant comfort throughout the day, regardless of changing external conditions.
