TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL's gold anodized louvers transform the façade of Kleber School.

Located in the town of Fâches-Thumesnil (59) and designed by the Charles RENARD architecture firm (59), the Kléber school project took advantage of the building's thermal renovation to provide a complete refurbishment of the surroundings and the playground. The facade of this structure was clad with Recti’Ligne adjustable architectural sunshades from TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL.

This extensive renovation and expansion project began in the summer of 2018 and spanned over twenty months. It is now difficult to find any traces of the old building beneath the gold anodized architectural aluminum louvers. The elementary school thus stands out from its neighbor, the nursery school, while establishing a subtle architectural dialogue.

The children, who had been attending classes in modular units installed just a few meters from the construction site since September 2018, were able to discover their new school at the start of the September 2020 school year.

Ensuring thermal and visual comfort in the building

The solar path is critical in architectural design. It allows the benefits of the sun to be utilized or, conversely, provides protection against intense heat and glare. Ideal for western exposures, the vertical sunshades with vertically orientated louvers installed on the facade of the Kleber school block the sun's rays when they are low on the horizon, establishing summer comfort within the building. This passive cooling solution offers numerous benefits (ecological, aesthetic, and economic) and meets users' solar shading requirements.

Thanks to the ease of tilting the louvers with the motorized actuator operation, users can adjust the shading and control daylight levels. Depending on the time of year or day, they will always benefit from optimal lighting. In the closed position, the sunshades ensure total screening.

Giving your facade a unique and timeless aesthetic appearance

Beyond these functional aspects, adjustable louver sunshades are also a key dynamic element for the facade. Featuring a sleek design, they integrate beautifully into the construction and provide a true architectural signature. This type of architectural solar shading guarantees the embellishment of the building.

The gold anodized finish is "Qualanod" certified, a quality label that guarantees the durability of the surface treatment and excellent outdoor performance.

From tailor-made study to ready-to-install system

TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL's engineering office studied the project beforehand. It produced the engineering calculations guaranteeing the structural durability of the sunshades as well as the fabrication drawings validating the conformity of the project. In the workshops, the 350x50 section profiles (réf. RL350x50), operating bars, and tubular mullions were cut and machined. The end caps of the rotation kits were then screwed to the extremities of the profiles.

This "ready-to-install" assembly system facilitates on-site implementation and saves considerable installation time. The assembly steps are :

  1. The actuators and mullions were fixed to the facade.
  2. The louvers equipped with rotation kits (delivered pre-assembled) were positioned between the mullions.
  3. The anti-disengagement rings were placed on the louvers.
  4. The operating bars were screwed onto the louver end caps to connect them to the actuators.

The installation of the sunshades on the facade was completed by the company Écolopo (59).
