Patio du Lac Development, MONTEUX (84)

TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL's 400 aluminum shutters screen and bring life to the facades of the Patio du Lac development in MONTEUX (84).

The new Patio du Lac residential complex, which rises 4 stories in the heart of a vast landscaped esplanade, features 360 sliding aluminum shutter panels and 40 fixed aluminum shutter panels to protect and adorn the entire building. As part of the project development, the ArtBuild Architects firm in charge chose to handle solar shading and window screening with a mix of louvered and solid infill panels. Leveraging its expertise in shutters, the French manufacturer TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL engineered a technical and aesthetic solution perfectly tailored to the building's requirements.

BORÉALE SHUTTER : THE IDEAL SOLUTION FOR MULTI-FAMILY HOUSING

The Patio du Lac development is located near the famous Mont Ventoux in Provence, just 20 km northeast of Avignon. It is part of an eco-district that includes a 10-hectare artificial lake and expansive natural spaces. The project stems from a strong environmental approach, guaranteeing controlled energy bills and building durability. For summer comfort management, users rely on a passive cooling system by effortlessly sliding the 360 BORÉALE shutters thanks to the top-hung rail system.

This residential complex offers 92 housing units, some of which extend into balconies. It is for this specific use, as balcony privacy screens, that the 40 solid panels were installed in a fixed version.

On this project, two types of shutter infills can be seen: louvered and solid. In the louvered infill configuration, the louver pitch provides solar shading to a 45° angle. In the solid infill configuration, the stacked louvers provide total blackout screening. 

Finally, beyond their functional aspects, the shutters — powder-coated in RAL 8012 satin (red brown), Qualicoat certified  — serve as major architectural elements that add rhythm to the facades.

BORÉALE SHUTTER : A TAILOR-MADE STUDY

Ahead of the project, TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL's engineering office studied the shutter layout on the various facades, producing structural calculations to guarantee long-term performance as well as fabrication drawings validating compliance.

Whether fixed or sliding, BORÉALE shutters stand out for their large-format design and modern style. They adapt to all windows or patio doors and were custom-engineered to match 30 bespoke dimensions.

BORÉALE SHUTTERS : SIMPLIFIED INSTALLATION

Composed of a 50 x 50 mm square tubular frame with straight cuts (assembly of mullions and transoms using stainless steel screws) and a trapezoidal louver infill (ref. RL70x12-B), the BORÉALE shutters were fully machined in TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL’s workshops in Chemillé-en-Anjou (49). All operating hardware was factory-assembled, including the roller brackets positioned at the shutter extremities.

The shutter assembly system allowed installers to save time by facilitating on-site implementation. In just 3 weeks, all 400 shutters and privacy screens were installed and adjusted by the teams from VSM SARL.

Assembly steps for BORÉALE shutters 

1. At the top, the guide rails are fixed onto pre-installed mounting brackets anchored directly to the facade.
2. The endstops are secured inside the top rails to block the shutter.
3. The shutters, equipped with roller brackets, are then hung from the top rails.
4. At the bottom, the continuous U-shaped profile is fixed directly to the floor to receive the guides at the base of the shutters.
