730 fixed RECTI'LIGNE aluminum louvers by TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL enhance and animate the façades of the new Orange Tolosa Campus in BALMA (31).

The new "Orange Tolosa Campus" office complex delivered in early 2021, which consists of 4 buildings on a site of over 3 hectares, is equipped with 730 rectangular aluminum louvers supported by curtain wall brackets to protect against the sun and enhance all the facades. As part of the construction of this real estate development, the architecture firms LCR Architectes (31), Kardham (33) and CCD Architecture (13) in charge of the project decided to handle the solar shading of the curtain walls and windows using architectural sunshades. Drawing on its expertise in summer comfort, the French manufacturer TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL, specialized in building solar shading (residential, commercial, public, etc.), designed a technical and aesthetic solution perfectly suited to the specific requirements of the campus buildings with its RECTI'LIGNE louvers in a fixed position. The solar shading specialist thus helps to deliver a real estate project that meets HQE® Excellent Level and Effinergie + standards.

AN ELEGANT & FUNCTIONAL SOLUTION

Built on the site of a former logistics platform, the new real estate complex of the world leader in telecommunications is located in the municipality of Balma (31), near Toulouse.
This 17,090 m² floor area campus of offices, developed by Pitch Promotion (75) and GA Smart Building (31) in co-development, brings together 1,250 employees of the Orange group. Driven by strong environmental awareness and with a view to improving the working comfort of its employees, the latter benefit from perfect solar shading thanks to TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL's RECTI'LIGNE architectural sunshades applied to the facades. This custom-made solution provided by the manufacturer's expertise ensures a passive cooling for the occupants, protecting them from intense heat and glare caused by the sun's rays.

Finally, beyond the functional aspects, the sunshades are major architectural elements that enhance the facades of the new Orange Tolosa campus. The finish of the white powder-coated aluminum louvers (ref. satin RAL 9003) and Qualicoat certified, gives the buildings a distinctive, modern and timeless architectural identity.

A TAILOR-MADE STUDY

Ahead of the project, TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL's engineering office studied the layout of the sunshades on the various glazed surfaces by carrying out engineering calculations to guarantee their long-term durability as well as the fabrication drawings validating the conformity of the structure. The location, facade orientation, and dimensions of the glazed surfaces were all factors that influenced the choice of the sunshade type for this project.

In order to optimize the design of the fixing system, the project was developed in BIM using TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL's BIM object catalogue, which includes RECTI'LIGNE louvers and fixing accessories. The combination of technical solutions implemented on the construction site, including that of TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL, made it possible to deliver a campus that satisfies HQE® Excellent Level and Effinergie + standards.

A "READY-TO-INSTALL" SYSTEM

Consisting of 730 rectangular louvers (ref. RL150x50, RL250x50, and RL350x50) in 15 different lengths and 3,550 custom-sized curtain wall brackets to ensure the fixing points on the facades, the RECTI'LIGNE sunshades were fully machined in TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL's workshops in Chemillé-en-Anjou (49). All the components of the sunshades (louvers, flat end plates...) were assembled on site.

The simplicity of the sunshade mounting system and the component tracking system developed by TELLIER BRISE-SOLEIL allowed the installers who received the deliveries to save a considerable amount of installation time on site. In just 4 weeks, the 1,590 linear meters of RECTI'LIGNE sunshades were installed.

Assembly steps for RECTILIGNE sunshades :

• Screwing the flat end caps to the ends of the louvers
• Fixing the curtain wall brackets into the nose of the mullion
• Inserting the louvers into the curtain wall brackets and locking them in place with screws
